Snapshot of my week...

So after spending my week loading and unloading boxes I think I am finally unpacked. I have gone for lots of different things for my home, some old, some new, some homemade and some shop bought. I am proud of my little home now :)

Here's a few pictures...

I do hope to blog more now that I am fully moved in and have a little more time. Need to get my crafting back on, I miss it so much! :)

Our House

This week I have been moving house. It was time for me to leave the nest and get a small place of my own with my man. Wow, packing away nearly 27 years of your life and moving it is a hard task. Its taken me all week but now I am getting a minute to myself I love it, my own little place to do my own little things.. How exciting. So.. what to listen to? Something fitting I feel...

Simple Song

Sometimes you just need a simple song to get you through the day. Thank you to the Shins for giving me that simple song...

Crochet Rose

Hey folks,
So I haven't had a lot of time to be crafting recently, but I have had my eye on some small makes to keep me occupied in quick and quiet times. This has been my favourite. A quick and easy crochet rose!

Take your yarn and your corresponding crochet hook. For mine I have used Sirdar Calico in a gorgeous sunshiney yellow colour! But I am going to be making loads. I love this yarn as its very soft and make with cotton so it doesn't fuzz up.

Step one: Leave around 11 or 12 inches of a tail then make your slip knot. Chain 41 chains.

Row 1: dc into the 4th st from hook, ch2, 2dc into same st, ch1, *skip 2 st then 2dc into that st, ch2, 2dc into same st, ch1 * repeat until the end of the row.

Row 2: Ch3 and turn. 6dc into the ch2 gap from row 1, *sc into the 1ch gap from row 1, dc7 into ch2 gap from row 1* repeat until the end and finish off.

Then using the tail from the beginning, roll the piece up into a rose, stitching all the pieces together at the base so that it doesn't move. If you want you could pop a bead into the centre for a bit of sparkle. I am going to make this one into a brooch I think, add a bit of sunshine to myself...

Hope this tutorial helps!

Snapshot of my week

This week has been a lovely one, filled with good times and nice food.
It started with a trip to the cinema to see the new Spiderman film (which was pretty good if I say so!). We went to the Electric in Birmingham, the oldest working Cinema in the UK. I find going to the cinema a bit of a chore sometimes, but I love the Electric. The atmosphere and the staff, the decor - I love all the original features, it is just a really great place!

Then we went to Bodega. Bodega is my favourite place to eat! They do amazing South American style food. I have never had a bad meal there, and their cocktails are pretty nice too! They have some great sister Venues too, everyone different and having their own great atmospheres.

I had the pork...

While my man went for the Burrito...

MMmmmm just thinking about it is making me hungry. It was a lovely day, topped off with sneaking a bit of afternoon crochet in. I am making some place mats for my new home, I will update you on these when I have completed them, I don't seem to have much time now...

I hope you look into these places and go visit, they really are great for a special occasion or just because. :)

Crochet Rug

Flying the nest and getting your own place is a big deal in everyones life, and I am so excited to be doing it myself. I have so many crafty ideas to fill my new place with, and this was one of them. A crochet circle rug! I have so much yarn in my big box, a lot of it is chunky and I have not got much use for it but to stash it. So I decided to use 3 and a half skeins on making myself a meter diameter rug. Just started with a granny circle and kept going, making sure I increased every row. I kept it plain with cream and beige and then brightened up the edge with a bright red! I am so proud, and cant wait to show it to everyone on my shiney new floor!
