Memories of my holiday

We have been back to the lovely Bigbury-on-Sea! We went last year as you can see here. To be honest it is now our fourth trip to this beautiful location. I have my eye on buying the post office and never returning to normal life..

But I thought I would share a few photos of my week. We visited a few different places nearby including Dartmoor and even the zoo. Fabulous places. :)

Where are your favourite places to visit?

Bettys

After having a beautiful weekend away with some old friends, and my lovely mother in Harrogate, I am currently munching away on some Macaroons and Moroccan Mint Tea which I purchased from Bettys tea room in Harrogate. Bettys is a famous tea room, they originated in Harrogate but have three others in the Yorkshire area. The first one opened in 1919 by a Swiss man, he combined the mouth-watering confectionery with the warmth and hospitality of Great Britain. Even today it still has the same silver service, great tea and beautiful food. (Smoked salmon, scrambled egg and English muffins are yum!) I would say that if you ever visit Yorkshire, you must go, and if you go early you can avoid the queues.

White Christmas

Because I work in UK retail I don't get much time for Christmas. I get one extra day off. So my lovely man is providing me with many Christmases this year. Our first was yesterday, which involved mulled cider, friends, knitted jumpers and watching many Christmas films. It was really enjoyable! The best film of course was Home Alone! Who doesn't love this song???

Snow Baubles

With this being the first Christmas in our own home we have inherited a lot of Christmas bits and pieces. I love having things handed down to me. I have ended up with some beautiful vintage baubles that were my grandma's aunts! Very old!!

But some baubles can do with a little re-vamp, which is just what I did!

Things you will need:
  • baubles
  • paint to cover the baubles (I used white poster paint)
  • PVA glue
  • Snow (obviously not real snow, but you can buy it in packets in most places now)

What to do:
1. Take your baubles and give them a couple of coats of paint depending on the base colour of the baubles and the final effect that you want. Leave to dry in between coats.
2. When dry, put your snow into a bowl to make the next bit easier. Then cover your bauble in a coat of PVA glue and then dunk into your bowl of snow and cover all over. Leave to dry.
It is as easy as that!

If you need a couple of coats you could always use spray mount to add a second layer. But mine were great after the first layer :)

Does anyone else have any good bauble re-vamp ideas?

Halloween "Boo" Pumpkin

Its Halloween week!! Woop! I love Halloween. The dressing up, the fun and games, the pumpkins! Every year I make a simple pumpkin. But this year I made it a little trickier for myself.
I started off by drawing out my design and the cutting it out, making sure that it would work on paper first.

I then pinned the drawing to the pumpkin and drew around the template onto the pumpkin.

Then using only a knife (be very careful, I nearly took my finger off) I took the top off the pumpkin to make a lid and scooped out all the insides. I then carved out the gaps of the face.

Then when its done you pop in a couple of tea lights, light them (be careful again!) and you get your spooky lantern.

Boo!! Happy Halloween x

Snapshot of my week... Rome

These are some of the many places I saw and visited around Rome during my trip there this week. It is the most amazing and beautiful place. Every time you turn a corner there is something spectacular in front of you. I definitely say that everyone should experience it themselves at some point. Fabulous! x

Rome

Today I am super excited!! I am currently waiting to board a plane to Rome, Italy. I love Italy. I last went to Lake Garda a few years ago which was stunning. This time I am prepared for a lot of sightseeing and photo taking. I can't wait. Look how beautiful it is.

I will be sure to share my experiences when I return. :)

Snapshot of my week

This week I have had an amazing week in Bigbury-on-Sea in Devon! Me and my man took a little break away and did not a lot. We visited Burgh Island which is a little island off the main coast of Bigbury-on-Sea, it  has an amazing 1930s hotel and was a second home to Agatha Christie, which is probably why an episode of Poirot was filmed there. There is an amazing pub on the Island called the Pilchard Inn. It's a great little pub, over 700 years old, and it's great watching the kite surfers while sipping on a cold pint. We had some amazing food, including the biggest Sunday roast, an amazing eggy bread, bacon and maple syrup stack, and a gorgeous cheddar and apple sandwich. We had a day out in Plymouth in which we saw that fantastic 1950's Ice cream van! and a day out in Looe in Cornwall, where I found The March Hare and purchased the most beautiful 1950's prom dress for a Jubilee Party :) We are very sad that the sun has now set on our little holiday away. But there's always next year :)
