A Day Out and a Quick Make

This weekend was so glorious and sunshiney! It was beautiful. So I had to take advantage so me and my man went for a walk along the canals in Birmingham and for lunch at a lovely Italian restaurant. It was lovely, and I only burnt a little...

I love taking a walk along the canals in Birmingham, there is so much character and history around there and the atmosphere is great.

I even treated myself to a scrummy raspberry meringue which didn't last very long.

I also made myself a little bracelet using lots of natural fibres. I love all the friendship bracelets that you can get around in the summer. But why spend £8 when you can make many for a lot less!

So I raided my stash and found five different colours of linen threads, red, orange, cream, brown and black.

To be honest you can use whatever threads to make your bracelets. My bracelet is only thin because I used these thin linen threads. I would also recommend embroidery threads. That is what most friendship bracelets are made with. I measured out 50cm of each thread twice. So in total I had 10 strands. But you could have as many colours as you fancy just make sure you do two strands of each!

Tie a knot at the top leaving enough threads at the end to be able to tie your bracelet. Then using a safety pin I pinned the threads to a cushion and spread them out, the two blacks in the centre, brown either side then cream, orange and reds on the outside.

To make the bracelet take the left red strand and move into the centre between the two blacks. Do the same with the red strand on the right side and move it over the top of the red strand in the centre, repeat with the orange strands and carry on going until you reach the desired length.

When you get to your desired length tie a knot and tie your two ends together around your or a friends wrist or ankle. I love the chevron effect and so easy with no knots or fussiness. Easy!

Memories of my holiday

We have been back to the lovely Bigbury-on-Sea! We went last year as you can see here. To be honest it is now our fourth trip to this beautiful location. I have my eye on buying the post office and never returning to normal life..

But I thought I would share a few photos of my week. We visited a few different places nearby including Dartmoor and even the zoo. Fabulous places. :)

Mothers Day

Today is Mother's Day! A day in which people celebrate their Mothers. Why not?! I know that mine is such an important person in my life, she is my best friend, my councillor, my stylist, and my teacher. Without my mum I would not be where I am today!

So, today me and my man took our mums out to a new (to us) place in Birmingham. It is an amazing little place called The Lost and Found. The concept originated from an explorer and professor from the Victorian era called Hettie G. Watson. She travelled the world finding new and different variations of botanics. She kept these in her little hideaway which is why the Lost and Found is tucked away and inside is a magical botanical library. There are different areas to this place and because of this it doesn't feel like your all on top of each other, the atmosphere is great, the food was amazing and the mums felt like they were being treated to a lovely day!

Bettys

After having a beautiful weekend away with some old friends, and my lovely mother in Harrogate, I am currently munching away on some Macaroons and Moroccan Mint Tea which I purchased from Bettys tea room in Harrogate. Bettys is a famous tea room, they originated in Harrogate but have three others in the Yorkshire area. The first one opened in 1919 by a Swiss man, he combined the mouth-watering confectionery with the warmth and hospitality of Great Britain. Even today it still has the same silver service, great tea and beautiful food. (Smoked salmon, scrambled egg and English muffins are yum!) I would say that if you ever visit Yorkshire, you must go, and if you go early you can avoid the queues.

A beautiful day

Yesterday I had a really lovely day. I was invited to go to the Orangemabel tea room in Alcester, Warwickshire. It really was such a beautiful place. Every tea cup, tea pot, plate and piece of cutlery was different. It had so much character. Everywhere I looked I found a new favourite piece. The menu was simple, but you don't need much choice when it comes to sandwiches and cake, they had all the options anyone could need! So a mini high tea was had. When it came, the whole room stopped and stared at the most amazing double tiered cake stand with sandwiches, salad, cake, a scone, cream and jam. It was stunning! I recommend that if you can, you should go. My friend got so excited, and loved it so much, that we visited Alcester as soon as we left and went into every charity shop looking for mix matched tea sets. She then went home planning on setting up her own vintage tea room, just for her friends, in her dining room. X

A lovely day :)

Today was absolutely lovely. It started with going for a quick visit to the Solihull vintage fair. I bought a beautiful real fur hat, and a gorgeous bag from a lady who runs a little vintage shop in Redditch. Then me and my man went out for the day into Birmingham city centre. I live around 10 miles away from Birmingham, and going is like a treat! I had to go and collect my new glasses and we decided to take a walk down to the Jewellery Quarter and visit the Rose Villa Tavern and have an amazing roast dinner. While we were there we walked past the Pen Museum, sounds a little different but it was great fun, and I got to make my own pen nib! Lately I have been thinking a lot about the home I would love to have and so I have decided to document any pieces of floor, or ceiling, or anything to do with the home in a scrap book for the future.

Snapshot of my week... Rome

These are some of the many places I saw and visited around Rome during my trip there this week. It is the most amazing and beautiful place. Every time you turn a corner there is something spectacular in front of you. I definitely say that everyone should experience it themselves at some point. Fabulous! x
