This song Left Alone by Fiona Apple was first played to me by my lovely man over at Something for the CV. I'd say he has good taste in music as this song has stuck with me. I love its vintage feel. Hope you do too!

Where are we now?

Bowie's back!! Is anyone else excited? I do actually really like this song. Sometimes the old need to give it up (I am thinking of you Mick Jagger, those hips need replacing, not swaying about) but this is old school Bowie carrying on! I Love it!

White Christmas

Because I work in UK retail I don't get much time for Christmas. I get one extra day off. So my lovely man is providing me with many Christmases this year. Our first was yesterday, which involved mulled cider, friends, knitted jumpers and watching many Christmas films. It was really enjoyable! The best film of course was Home Alone! Who doesn't love this song???

Santa bring my baby back (to me)

It is exactly one month until Christmas! There is still so much to do. I have hardly had time to do any Christmas crafts, I need to write my cards (usually I make them so this makes me feel sad), but the one good thing is that I can start listening to Christmas songs.. Like Santa bring my baby back (to me) by Elvis Presley!

You've got her in your pocket

I love going to a gig and being swallowed up by the atmosphere. After being very ill last week I managed a moment of emotion at a Jack White gig. He sang his song 'You've got her in your pocket' and even he choked back the tears. The whole crowd was silent and sang along right at the end. A beautiful moment for all involved! I know that youtube videos never give the full effect of the moment but this isn't a bad audio to show you the beauty. Have you ever had a moment like that? Please share, it would be good to hear!

Radiohead

Well, my excitement has been building for months and months, and then the time for me to see Radiohead live in Manchester was taken away from me by illness! :( But my lovely man and writer of blog Something for the CV went and had an amazing time (that makes it worse really). Street Spirit (Fade Out)

My man and I are very excited! This Saturday night we are going on a journey up to Manchester to see Radiohead live!! We have seen them twice before, and they are amazing!! Super exciting :)  I thought I would share with you one of my favourite songs by them, and will hopefully have some pictures to share over the weekend!

This song from the motion picture 'Drive' is a really lovely song, it makes me feel all warm inside and so on this Friday night I thought I would share it with you. Snapshop of my week...

This last week my man surprised me with a Birthday trip to Liverpool, the home of the Beatles! I turned 27 and wasn't really looking forward to the week so he took me away for a couple of days. We stayed in the Hard Days Night hotel in the Cavern Quarter of the city. This hotel is the fanciest hotel I have ever stayed in and we were lucky enough to get a Ringo room. We had a lovely two days in a city that was completely new to us, we ate some great Thai food at Chaophraya in Liverpool 1, visited the Beatles Story by the docks and found out lots of new information about the Beatles that I didn't already know. I think that my favourite place was Mathew Street, home of the Cavern Club (both the original and the re-built one), the Grapes pub where the Beatles had their pre and post gig drinks, and a generally nice atmosphere :) I enjoyed having a drink in the Cavern pub with some free live music, getting to read through all the people who have played their over the years and all the newspaper clippings with stories of goings on there. Great stuff! I say that if you get a chance to, go see it for yourselves.

Moseley Folk 2012

This Friday a couple of friends and I went to Moseley Folk Festival in Birmingham. This was our second year at this really beautiful festival. It is only small and a lot of the music is unknown to us, but we love it! The atmosphere is great, the people are lovely and it's just a really nice time :)

One of the first to play was Beth Jeans Houghton and the Hooves of Destiny. I had only heard one of her songs on an advert and although I liked it I hadn't looked into the band more. But they were good, with great costumes and strange on-stage banter, they were different from some of the acts we had seen earlier in the day.

Another great group were the Destroyers. A 15 piece "MegaFolk" band from Birmingham with a brass section, string section and an old guy on vocals. Great fun and got me dancing!

Next up was an old favourite of ours, the Guillemots. Fife Dangerfield was born in Moseley, so another local boy, and his music I have loved for a few years now. They started in 2004 and have had four albums out and a whole number of singles. They played some really great songs at the festival and even changed some of their old songs to vary them, a lovely set!

Echo and the Bunnymen were the headliners for the evening, a band I saw a few years ago back in 2005 at Reading Festival in the pouring rain. They were brilliant to watch and were so thankful to the crowd, a real great set!!

The day was a really great one and I think I will go back next year too! I recommend it to everyone, take a picnic and some friends and just enjoy it!

Dry the River are a folk rock band from London. They are another new band for me and this song I love. His voice is really lovely. :)

Day trip to London

On Friday (22nd June), I went on a day trip to London. We went around lunch time on the train to Euston and from there went to Camden to meet up with my good friend Toni! She moved down to London a few months ago and we miss her greatly, shes working in fashion and has a lovely little blog here. We visited my favourite place Camden Lock Market and Camden Stables Market. I could spend so much money going through all the racks of great vintage items :)

Then after spending all the money I had, we popped to a local pub for half a Dead Pony. We sat and had a lovely catch up before making our way to Hammersmith and going to the Apollo. For Friday night, was Jack White night!! YAYE!!

It has been a while since we bought our tickets for this gig and I have been trying not to get too excited about it all. I hate getting excited about things that then turn out to be a let down. But with this gig I had nothing to worry about, it was excellent!!

All in all it was a great day and I really enjoyed myself. I need to go back to London soon though and spend some more in Camden, I wish I lived nearer!

Spector are a five piece indie rock band from London and their debut album is due out in August titled Enjoy it While it Lasts. I have been listening to this song a lot lately and I really like it :)

Fathers Day

Today is Fathers Day and to me my dad is very important. From a very early age, although he worked away a lot my dad was always my hero, nothing he did could ever be wrong. I love him loads!

Throughout the years we have had some really great times, and some bad ones. But he will always be my dad.

My biggest memory of my dad is singing Strange Little Girl by the Stranglers to me whenever he played it. It's a song that I will always remind me of him.
